About the Event

We will engage in discussion through cross comparative work, conversation, guided discussion on possible educational pieces: Philippine American war, David Fagen, Immigration Act of 1965 and Civil Rights Advocacy (How Black leaders helped pass the law allowing most of us to immigrate here).

Conversation topics:

-Self Identity

-Colorism

-Comments from Filipino relatives

-Addressing how anti-blackness becomes internalized

-How this affects our own self worth

-How it affects the empathy and compassion we have for others
